Cliff Schertz
Founder and CEO
Cliff Schertz is the founder and chief executive officer of Tiempo Development, where he is responsible for the strategic vision of the company. For over 25 years, Mr. Schertz has been leading and growing successful technology service companies, enabling his customers to achieve superior performance, high customer satisfaction and profitability.
Prior to Tiempo Development, Mr. Schertz was CEO of Camisa Technologies, where he and his team implemented and integrated customer relationship management (CRM) software solutions for hundreds of mid-sized companies such as United Concordia, Motorola, Weitz Construction, Harlan Bakeries and Best Western International. Prior to Camisa, Mr. Schertz also served as Vice President of the CRM National Practice for ePartners and grew the ePartners from zero CRM sales to becoming the national sales leader for SalesLogix, Onyx, Pivotal and Siebel mid-market software companies.
Mr. Schertz has a degree in Electronic Technology from Texas State Technical College and an MBA from Arizona State University’s WP Carey School of Business.
James Walbom
Chief Financial Officer
James Walbom has significant experience in corporate finance with a focus on growth technology companies. He has over 15 years of experience in venture capital finance, corporate development, and strategic planning.
Prior to joining Tiempo Development, he was the Managing Director of Commercialization at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). Mr. Walbom was responsible for all commercialization and licensing activities and provided domain expertise in the areas of venture finance and corporate development to TGen executive management.He oversaw all business operations, contracts, and Intellectual Property agreements for a $45 million strategic initiative in Personalized Medicine with multiple international partners.
Mr. Walbom also served as Chief Financial Officer at Desert Document Services, Inc., one of the nation’s leading mortgage lending Software as a Service (SaaS) providers. In addition to being responsible for all financial operations, he successfully led the company’s efforts to be acquired by Wolters Kluwer Financial Services in January 2007.
Mr. Walbom received an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Entrepreneurship and Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona.
Bruce Steele
Chief Operating Officer
As COO, Bruce Steele provides strategy and leadership for Tiempo Development’s platform of services. In this role, he drives Tiempo’s software engineering, professional services, consulting and customer support initiatives. Mr. Steele is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of management experience in the areas of operations, corporate development, sales and strategic planning with leading technology firms.
Before joining Tiempo, Mr. Steele held a number of leadership positions at ePartners, a leading business solutions consultancy firm recognized multiple times as Microsoft’s prestigious Global Partner of the Year. Under his leadership as ePartners’ Executive Vice President of Operations, Sales and Solution Strategy, the company grew from a $5 million start-up to a $90 million consulting company. Mr. Steele’s career also includes senior-level positions with a number of other high-growth technology integrators, consulting and engineering firms.
Mr. Steele has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Maria Gotes
Vice President of Human Resources, Recruitment and Talent Management
As VP of Human Resources, Recruitment and Talent Management, Maria Gotes manages the human capital supply chain at Tiempo Development. Ms. Gotes manages all HR initiatives from her office in the Tempe, AZ headquarters, from attracting and recruiting external talent to developing and managing internal talent for offices in Mexico and the US. In her previous role as VP of Strategic Initiatives, she was responsible for special projects and relationships between the Mexican government and educational institutions, our corporate development and investor relations. Prior to her first promotion to a VP role, she served as Tiempo’s Operations Manager where she managed recruiting, facilities, administration and HR for the company.
Ms. Gotes is a native of Sonora, Mexico, graduating from Arizona State University (ASU) with a BSE in Biomedical Engineering and a Certificate in International Business. She worked as Account Manager for the Healthcare/Higher Education verticals at Johnson Controls before returning to ASU as Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention for Engineering students and being promoted to Assistant Director for International Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Programs. During this time, Ms. Gotes established over a dozen programs around the world to enhance ASU’s MBA student opportunities to learn about different business environments while also obtaining her own MBA.
Rick Stoddard
VP & Regional General Manager Rocky Mountain Region
As VP of Sales, Rick Stoddard provides leadership and coordination of Tiempo Development’s sales functions. Mr. Stoddard brings a unique business perspective shaped by his leadership positions in sales organizations.
Mr. Stoddard has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, sales trainer and executive, with a history of success in both established Fortune 500 and innovative startup technology companies. Prior to joining Tiempo, Mr. Stoddard was Principal & Founder of Performance Plus, a performance development consulting firm. He was also President & Co-Founder of S&S Technologies, a technical sales and service organization.
Mr. Stoddard earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mike Garland
Vice President of Marketing
Mike Garland is the VP of Marketing at Tiempo Development. Drawing on two decades of experience with fast growth technology companies, he sets the strategy and implementation for positioning Tiempo Development to be the leader in nearshore software development in the marketplace.
Before joining Tiempo Development, Mike gained two decades of experience in the technology industry as the Marketing Director for Platinum Technologies, ePartners, Televerde, Data Preserve and Kryterion. These companies ranged from computer training, software development, data backup and marketing. Mike developed the strategic and tactical marketing efforts of the organizations in branding, messaging, sales support, PR and lead generation.
Mike began his service to the community as a Captain and Company Commander in the US Army. He gives back to the community by serving at Arizona Compassion in Action (a non-profit dedicated to those in need in the valley). He is a board member of his church and facilitates MBA classes at his alma mater.
Mike received a MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
Hector Vega
Vice President of Software Engineering
As VP of Software Engineering, Hector Vega is responsible for the core development operations management at Tiempo Development offices in Hermosillo and Monterrey. Mr. Vega oversees the maximizing of development resources and maintaining compliance with customer requirements in terms of productivity, quality and schedule. He previously served as Director of Software Operations where he was responsible for both operational performance and employee and customer satisfaction.
Before joining Tiempo, Mr. Vega was the General Manager of Sasken Communication Technologies where he coordinated processes and development models related to the software development lifecycle. Hector Vega has over 15 years’ experience in embedded software development and cloud computing for the telecommunications and aerospace industries.
Mr. Vega has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila.
